Patiently Waiting...

After Tuesday PE class, each child has a turn to say goodbye to Teacher Sharon and her service dog, Angel. After their turn, the children wait in line to go back to class. Waiting can be hard, but today the children made it look so easy!

During small group time, the children sat in a large circle, passed a purse filled with magnet letters as Teacher Cassie played music. When the music stopped, the child holding the purse would reach in, pull out a letter, make the sound of that letter and identify it. Afterwards the children would think of words beginning with that letter.

For Group Time today, the children practiced making patterns. Teacher Linette showed the children a simple pattern on the white board. After they practiced a few patterns, Teacher Linette showed them how to make patterns with sounds. The children took turns creating patterns for the group to follow. This supports cognitive development.

Puppet Feelings

This week the children are working on making their own puppets, in order to expand their emotional literacy. The children drew their puppet’s face and described how they were feeling.

Ollie: This is Hulk. He is angry and wants to smash things.
Kazu: Steph Curry is happy because he is playing basketball.
Elliott: Steph is sad because he lost the game.
Jaxson: Rie is happy because she will take a nap, then she will wake up and eat snack then play basketball outside with her friends.

Slime Gloves!

The children played with slime at the sensory table today! They used their hands to squeeze, stretch and explore the slime. Teacher Theresa showed them that if you pull the slime slowly, it becomes very thin and almost see-through! The children asked the teacher if she could help put it on their hands where they created “slime gloves!”

Violet: Slime has glue and water. It smells like...marshmallows
Hudson: I think it smells like pears
Jia: Yeah, pears!
Kaidha: It smells like strawberries!
Violet: This feels papery...rubbery! This feels like rubber!
