We are Thankful For Teacher Sharon!

The children are always so excited to see Teacher Sharon for PE on a Tuesday’s! She helps them learn about different body parts, helps then create new shapes with their bodies and makes sure they are always safe! Today they practiced lots of matching as well. We are so thankful for Teacher Sharon!

It’s a Birthday Party!

This week we removed the food toys from the House Area to encourage the children to create their own food out of playdough. The children used the kitchen toys to make pot roast, noodles, cookies, pancakes, and the most special, a birthday cake for Robbie's 5th birthday! The children gathered around the table and sung Robbie a Happy Birthday.

Ramps!

The block area has been busy constructing ramps out of our blocks.  The children have been figuring out different ways to build and have been working on extending their ramps so their cars can go further distances. We have been incorporating the chairs to help give the ramps some height and to encourage the children to build on a surface other than carpet. This activity encourages the children to work together!

I Like to Eat, Eat, Eat...

Today I observed a group of children comparing and contrasting their different lunches. They each took turns sharing what they had to eat:

Hudson: I got noodles! I don’t know what kind of noodles. But it’s got egg. And something else.
Noe: This is sausage and rice. And then I got blueberries. And then my mom packed me a dessert in here! What is in your lunch, Alex?
Alex: This is sandwich! With egg.

The whole tabled continued eating, then Noe realized something:

Noe: Wait a minute... this isn’t a dessert! It’s wipes for your hands! My mommy tricked me! That’s so funny.

We all had a good laugh. What a fun lunch time!

Letter Treasure Hunt

Today we went on a letter treasure hunt in the sandbox! The teacher hid different foam letters in the sand and invited the children to dig them out. When they found a letter, they all shared different words that start with that letter! This was a fun way to encourage literacy in an outdoor setting!

Gratitude Jar Activity

Thank you to all the families who came and participated in our activity. Everyone had a fantastic time and it was a great success. We hope you and your child make the gratitude questions a part of your daily conversation and talk about what it means to be kind, thankful and helpful.

Recycled Materials

This week the children are using recycled materials to build. This encourages them to use their imaginations to create and build. The children have been building some very unique pieces of art. They will continue to work on these pieces throughout the week so they can add new materials to their pieces everyday. Can’t wait to see our recycled material art gallery!

Patiently Waiting...

After Tuesday PE class, each child has a turn to say goodbye to Teacher Sharon and her service dog, Angel. After their turn, the children wait in line to go back to class. Waiting can be hard, but today the children made it look so easy!

ABCs

During small group time, the children sat in a large circle, passed a purse filled with magnet letters as Teacher Cassie played music. When the music stopped, the child holding the purse would reach in, pull out a letter, make the sound of that letter and identify it. Afterwards the children would think of words beginning with that letter.

Patterns

For Group Time today, the children practiced making patterns. Teacher Linette showed the children a simple pattern on the white board. After they practiced a few patterns, Teacher Linette showed them how to make patterns with sounds. The children took turns creating patterns for the group to follow. This supports cognitive development.

Puppet Feelings

This week the children are working on making their own puppets, in order to expand their emotional literacy. The children drew their puppet’s face and described how they were feeling.

Ollie: This is Hulk. He is angry and wants to smash things.
Kazu: Steph Curry is happy because he is playing basketball.
Elliott: Steph is sad because he lost the game.
Jaxson: Rie is happy because she will take a nap, then she will wake up and eat snack then play basketball outside with her friends.
