Journal: When Do You Feel Brave?

Image
This week's journal was about feeling brave. We were so impressed by their emotional awareness! We encourage you to talk to your children about "scary" feelings and to normalize that it's okay to feel scared sometimes, but we can also be brave.  Caden: I am brave when I go to the dentist. Christian: I am brave when I am swimming. Bryce: I am brave when I play basketball and football. Travis: I am brave when I ride a bike. Ethan: I am brave when I see a bear.  Liam: I am brave when am I in the dark. Jewel: I am brave when I jump on the bed. Asher: I am brave when Mommy turns off the light.  Hunter: I am brave when I sleep by myself. Amet: I am brave when I play a video game on my iPad.  Emmeline: I am brave when something is hot. Corinne: I am brave when I walk to the kitchen by myself. Donovan: I'm brave when I pick up spiders. Sherleen Kate: I am brave when I sleep with my dad and mom. "It's a Party, a Party, a Pepperoni Pizza Party!" - Pete the Cat

Who doesn't love pizza? The children have shown an interest in pizza in the last few weeks! We made pretend pizza with playdough and paper toppings, we played "Pin the Pepperoni on the Pizza at Group Time," we counted and sorted by we making lists of our favorite toppings, and read the book Pete the Cat's Pizza Party by James and Kimberly Dean several times! This time we made REAL pizza with english muffins and mini bagels for the crust. The children were able to spread their own tomato sauce, sprinkle cheese, and add various toppings of their choice. It was exciting to see them try something new and be brave when trying a new ingredient. Thank you Teacher Linette for planning, and for Teacher Winnie and Teacher Mary for helping us cook.

Happy Mother's Day

This week we celebrated our mothers and caregivers who give their love to their children everyday. We had a keychain making station, seed planting, and decorated plant pots together. Some of the children have reported that their plants have already started sprouting! The children also worked extra hard at a special surprise gift, an All About My Mom drawing. Their responses were sweet, thoughtful, and hilarious!  Thank you to all the mommies and mamas who were able to spend time with us this Monday. Mother's Day should be everyday :)  Thank you for helping our little ones "grow"

The children did an AMAZING job at the Lion King show this Friday! They dressed up as bumblebees and ladybugs for Hakuna Matata and they really stole the show! Thank you families for helping with their costumes and showing up for support.
