Utopia Preschool

We are near the end of the school year and we are reflecting on all the growth that the children have made. This week we asked the children to think about how they have changed since they were little. Their answers were surprising and so thoughtful! Writing and answering journal prompts not only strengthens writing skills, but encourages the children to think about their own identities and how to express themselves.  Layla: When I was younger I would say, "Goo goo ga ga" but now I can talk! Kalina: When I was younger I had short hair, but now I have long hair.  Kenzo: When I was younger my mom would carry me, but now I can walk. Jaeda: When I was younger I would crawl, but now I can walk!  Surya: When I was younger I would sleep in a crib, but now I sleep in a bed. The children have been counting down the days to our field trip and now we are here! We started off our morning on a bus ride up to Sausalito. This was many of the children's first time on a school bus! We had the best time exploring all the exhibits, using the play areas, and making art at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Thank you to ALL our chaperones for helping out on this busy and exciting day.  *Please send us the large group photo if you have one!                 

We had a Mothers and Special Guest celebration this Monday! Our guests of honor met us in the classroom where the children sang a few welcome songs, then we were off to Caroll Hall for some activities! The children decorated candle jars with dried flowers, took photos at the photobooth, and made a keychain to take home for mom. Thank you for spending a Monday morning with us, and thank you to ALL caregivers for the love and work you do everyday to care for your children, and yourselves! It isn't easy. We know that this was a special day, but we hope you feel loved everyday! 

Our M&Ms were the sweetest in the factory! The children did such an incredible job performing in the Willy Wonka Jr. musical today. They sang and danced two songs: The Golden Age of Chocolate and The Candy Man. They have been practicing for months and finally got to show off their hard work in front of the whole school, and audience of family and friends.  Thank you to Ms. Jessica for teaching us the dance moves every week, and for co-producing the show!
