A Visit from Elaine's Mom, aka Nurse Tracy
We had a special visit today from Elaine's mom, Tracy! Tracy read the book Mixed by Aree Chung, a story about the beauty of mixing colors (and people!). Afterwards, the children were able to mix their own colors and paint by doing some fold painting. They painted two sides of a heart with primary colors, then folded and opened the heart to reveal new colors, just like in the story. We were also lucky that Tracy is a nurse and got to share some of her expertise with us. During our second group time, Tracy read the story Nurses and What They Do by Lisbet Slegers. This was a great introduction for Tracy to show us lots of tools that real nurses use in the doctor's office and hospital! She passed around a stethoscope, blood pressure monitor, empty syringe, masks, medicine cups, and oxygen masks!
