Walking Field Trip and Popsicle Party!

Image
To celebrate hitting our fundraising milestones for the Fun Run, we had a popsicle party and visit to the playground this week! We enjoyed a nice, cool treat on one of our sunny days, then walked with our groups to visit the Tot Lot on Brotherhood Way! We made sure to talk about ways to be safe while walking down the street, and sticking with our buddies. We love making the school days feel special for the children.

Fun Run 2024!

Today's Fun Run was a success! Thank you everyone who supported, donated and came out today to cheer on our class of speedy runners - they had so much fun! We exceeded our class goal and raised over  $4,000! The children ran 40 laps around the  track in the big yard and received a check mark for every lap they completed! It was really great to see family members join in the fun too. Go Utopia!

"A Family is a Family"

Image
Last month the children used their All About Me Pages to draw who is in their family. This was a way for the children to find out what is similar and different about each other, while encouraging language building and communication with their new friends. The simple act of drawing with a prompt supports several different skills like following directions, understanding shape and size, and fine motor skills as they learn to control a pencil or marker. It also supports social emotional awareness and community building as the children share about their families with one another. We’ve paired this activity with songs and stories about family, and many conversations about what makes a family, a family. The answer is always “Love!” Get a closer look at the children's family drawings displayed in the classroom!
