Holiday Celebration at Alma Via

Image
Today the children and teachers at Utopia visited our friends at Alma Via! The children sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bells as Teacher Linette played the piano! They also performed the song "Decorate the Tree" from their school performance last week. The residents at Alma Via were so impressed and excited with the preschoolers performance!

POP-TOPIA

Outside Utopia, the children set up chairs, a table, food, reading material, POP-TOPIA sign and performed all kinds of acts. The children partnered up, danced  and did skits together.

A Special Night at School

Image
Tonight is our Christmas Concert! Everyone is dressed in their most festive attire ready to perform "Decorate the Tree" for our family, friends, and whole school. Many of the children were so excited to be at school at night time and especially  to watch "a TV movie on the wall" Frosty the Snowman! Thank you to all our families for getting the children ready for our special night. We hope you enjoy the show!

Preparing for our Christmas Concert

Image
As our Christmas concert approaches, the children have been working very hard to prepare. This morning we had an opportunity to rehearse on stage! The children waited patiently for their name to be called in order to line up and head to the gym. The children practiced walking up on stage safely, lining up and keeping an eye on the teachers as they sang. Don't forget, our Christmas concert will be Thursday, December 14th at 7pm!

Preschool Physics!

Image
Today the children explored rolling balls of differing sizes and weights down ramps! They had lots of fun working together to build a "catcher" for the balls and discussing which balls they thought were the fastest. They also created their own game where they tried to determine which balls would knock down the blocks in the middle.

Getting the Grocery Store Ready!

Image
The children have been showing interest in turning the house area into a grocery store! Many of the children have discussed the stores they go to and what they find at the store. Today a few of the children were filling up their baskets and using the cash register. They helped each other select food and practiced using money to pay. Can't wait to see how they use this space for dramatic play!

Safety First

This afternoon, the children suggested we create signs with sandbox rules. With teacher Andrea's guidance, the children created a list of rules: 1. Don't throw sand toys at the gate. 2. Keep the sand in the sandbox. 3. Keep the sand out of the drain. 4. Be careful with sand, keep it out of our friend's eyes and bodies. 5. Don't throw toys at our friends. Be safe with the toys. Amir added a sixth rule: Please do not step on friends sandcastles. After creating a list, the children drew pictures to represent each rule.

Bike Area

During outside play, the children were riding their bikes  and stopping off at a designated area to fill up their gas tank. In another area not too far away, a mechanic was standing by to help fix their tires or any other part of the bike that needed repairs. After their long drive they finally checked in at the car wash.
