Willy Wonka Story Summary

Image
To prepare for the Spring Musical in a few months, we watched parts of Willy Wonka with the children! Some of them were familiar with the story while others were hearing it for the first time. The children have also been working hard learning the moves for their dance to The Golden Age of Chocolate from with Ms. Jessica on Tuesdays.

Visit from Kenzo's Family

Image
Kenzo's family visited this week for his birthday! His mom, Kristine, read us a few pages from one of Kenzo's favorite books The Big Book of Why .   We learned about the heart, and different ways to keep our heart strong with exercise, a variety of nutritious food, and kindness! Kenzo's dad, Bryan, made a poster for our classroom showing how to take care of our heart. They stayed for lunch time to celebrate Kenzo's birthday and to sing a birthday song! Thank you for spending time with us at school.    Happy 5th birthday Kenzo!

Triangles in Music Class

Image
This week in Music Class, the children played the triangle! Teacher Linette showed the children all the different parts of the instrument and how to hold it properly. We also remembered how to "rest," how to play on beat, and how follow the words of the song with their instrument. After reviewing this, the children got to perform in small groups on the stage, while the rest of their friends listened and cheered! They performed "Twinkle Twinkle Traffic Light" in honor of Black History Month and Garett Morgan who invented the traffic light.

Plant the Tiny Seed - with Rhys’ Mom!

Image
On Tuesday, we had a special visitor come to school and teach us about seeds and how things grow! Rhys’ mom, Elizabeth was brought us some plant pots, soil, and cat grass seeds for us to plant together! She read us the story Plant the Tiny Seed by Christie Matheson at Morning Group, then we got to decorate our own plant pots to keep in the classroom. We will be patiently waiting to see when our seeds start sprouting! Thank you Elizabeth for spending this time with us and making this rainy day so much fun.
