Utopia Preschool

We can't believe the end of the year is here.  This week has been full of reflection, fun, and making memories together. We had three summer birthdays to celebrate, got to use the big playground, played with the parachute, and practiced for graduation! We are SO proud of all the hard work the children have accomplished and are going to miss our graduates so much. They are ready to take on the world! We are very happy to have some of our friends returning for next year as well. We can't wait to see how much they will grow over the summer! To all our Utopia students and future alumni, we are so lucky to have been part of your lives. 

Today was our Father's Day event and it was so much fun! The children and their special guests made handprint shrinky dink keychains and macaroni frames to take home. The children also gave their dads a special surprise that they worked on last week, an All About My Dad frame.  Thank you for joining us for our last family event of the year. We hope you felt super special and had a great time!  

This week, the weather reached over 70 degrees in San Francisco! We took advantage of the weather with an afternoon popsicle party. 

This week we followed a recipe in one of our class' favorite books, Food Play by Amy Palanjian. The children were able to roll, squish and flatten the bread of their choice, then spread various toppings like cream cheese, sunbutter, and jelly! After adding their toppings, we rolled the sandwiches into a tight spiral, then cut them up into "sushi" rolls! The children were able to compare and contrasts flavors that they liked, and appreciate their work. We also took a poll to see who liked crust on their bread, and who didn't. This was good preparation for the future in case they ever came across a bit of crust that they didn't like on their sandwiches.  We also ended our space exploration this week by using the Stomp Rocket! Each child had a turn to launch the rocket high into the sky. It was so fun seeing how far it would go, making predictions, and using all our strength to make the rocket fly up.
