Teacher Appreciation Week

Image
This week we are celebrating all of our amazing, hardworking teachers. Thank you for everything you do to support the children and families. It doesn’t go unnoticed! Thank you families for all of the yummy treats yesterday! Our tummies were so full. And kids, thank you for the beautiful pictures you drew for us today! We feel so loved ❤️🍎

Outdoor Talent Show

Image
Today we had a talent show outside! The children took turns signing up for the talent show and presenting to each other! Emery, Sydney and Isaiah danced and sang to the “Sunflower song” and Imagne Dragon’s Believer! They practiced holding different poses such as balancing over each other and kicking their feet in the air!

Baking and Building!

Image
Our inside time was full of creative ideas and creations this morning! Sydney B. and Kayla were incredibly engaged at the sensory table as it was filled with a combination of corn starch and shaving cream. Theo and Matteo used recycled materials and tape to put together their own inventions.  When asked what they were making, Sydney B. exclaimed, “I’m baking a really big cake!” and Kayla replied, “A cupcake.” Sydney B. further explained that the ingredients in her cake were, “grapes and leaves and a sandwich and candles on top! You wish for something!” Theo holds up his airplane and points to a specific part saying, “You see, these are the jets!”  Matteo showcases his “rhino-bot” and points to a button. He says, “This is the eye!” He says rhino-bots have friendly battles.

Patterns

During group time, Teacher Andrea drew a variety of patterns on the board and asked the children what came next. They were excited and very eager to share their answers.

Enjoying Outside Time

Image
The children have been enjoying the sunshine we have been having lately. Today they were very busy at our newly revamped art area courtesy of Teacher Theresa. We also added more pretend food to out outside house area, which is encouraging more children to explore that area. The children have also noticed our garden is blooming with lots of new flowers. This means we have noticed more bees and butterflies!

Our Own “Nordstrom - Jamba Juice - Boba Shop”

Image
This week we turned our Dramatic Play Area into a clothing store! The children added price tags to the clothes, cut out receipts, and helped style each other with new hats, jackets, and bows! Some of the children decided to open a “boba shop and Jamba Juice” next door to provide drinks for customers. “Just like at the mall!” according to Dylan.  We asked the children what we should name our store and a few of them mentioned ”Nordstroms!”

Busy Block Area

Image
The block area was busy with thoughtful creations today!  Lars built “a big parking garage” : Isaiah and Aiden worked together using tracks, blocks, road signs, balls, pom poms, and gems to connect 2 different structures!: Brendan used different blocks to create a “cemetary that has a security guard to make sure people arent racing in the cemetary”:

Alma Via Visit

Image
Today we had the opportunity to visit our neighbors at Alma Via. The children sang “Welcome to Alma Via” (a twist on our good morning song), “Little Rabbit Foo Foo” and practiced our dance for our perfomance tomorrow. The children also made necklaces and a giant Happy Easter sign for the people of Alma Via. The children truly enjoy going over there and visiting with the residents.

Grab A Partner and Dance!

Image
We are continuing to practice for our Spring Dance this week! One of our favorite moves is spinning around with a partner. Here, Teacher Linette and Ingrid showed the group how to count to 8 as they spun around.

Kindergarten Easter Activity

Image
Today our soon-to-be graduates visited the Kindergarten classroom! They read the book Pete the Cat: Big Easter Adventure by James Dean and Kimberley Dean. They then sat with the kindergarteners and decorated their own easter egg bags! The children each had a chance to practice writing their names on their bag, drawing and decorating them with stickers. The children also enjoyed reuniting with their old Utopia friends that are now in Kinder!
