P is for Piñata! With Michelle's Mom
To celebrate Latino Heritage Month, Michelle's mom, Zenaida, came to visit today to teach us how to make piñatas! She first read the class a story called How to Stuff a Piñata by Naibe Reynoso. This story described where piñatas come from, when they are used, and how to make them! Many of the children were familiar with piñatas from birthday parties, and especially the yummy treats inside.
Afterwards, Zenaida led a an art activity where each child go to make their own piñata out of cardboard, stickers, glue, and colorful paper. The children did so well following all of the directions and were able to make their pinata unique for them. We sent home the piñatas with a bag of treats to fill at home!
Thank you so much Zenaida for spending time with us this morning, for bringing all the materials, the story and the treats for the piñatas! The children were so proud of their creations.
