Mosaic Art inspired by Alma Thomas

During the last week of February, we highlighted Alma Thomas for Black History Month through a special mosaic art project. The children began by working individually with small, colorful sqare cutouts, carefully placing each piece to create their own unique designs. This gave them the opportunity to explore color, patterns, and fine motor skills while expressing their creativity. Later in the week, we extended the experience into a collaborative project. Both groups worked together to create a larger mosaic piece, combining their individual efforts into one beautiful art work. It was a wonderful way to celebrate art, teamwork and the power of collaboration. We will be putting the mosaic art work on display in the classrooms and in the halls soon, so please keep an eye out for it. We can't wait for you to see their beautiful creations!
