O is for Ofrenda
This week the children helped set up an ofrenda to honor our past loved ones for Dia de los Muertos. The children used hole punchers and scissors to make papel picado and floral calaveras to brighten our altar. Then each child with a family member got to pick a spot to hang their loved one on the wall. They also talked about what they remembered about them, and found similarities between their family members! Lastly, they adorned our altar marigold flowers and candles to guide our ancestors home to visit.
Thank you families for sharing your lives with us at school.
